From January to Ash Wednesday, groups with skin drums and snare drums parade every Sunday, in Pointe-à-Pitre as well as Basse-Terre.
On a Saturday in August, the cooks of Pointe-à-Pitre parade in madras, baskets of dishes on their heads, before a mass and a long meal.
In August, the race goes round the island for about ten days and draws crowds along the roads at every stage.
