Rennes
The capital of Brittany: a 17th-century parliament restored after the fire of 1994, half-timbered houses on the Place des Lices and the gardens of the Thabor.

- Oysters at Cancale, from the beds below the harbour.
- Crêpes and buckwheat galettes, the everyday meal of the region.
- Sardines in Douarnenez, the old sardine port.
⚠️ Best avoided
- Check the tide times before setting out for the Grand Bé, the Île Callot or the Île Tascon: the causeways disappear under the sea.
- Cars are banned on the Île Callot causeway in July and August.
- Do not swim on the wild coast of Quiberon: it is dangerous.
- Parking at the Pointe du Raz is paid from April to October.
