Frequently asked questions

When does the ski season start in Kitzbühel?

The Resterkogel opens on 6 November 2026 (public skiing at weekends) and the Hahnenkamm on the weekend of 21 and 22 November, snow permitting. The whole linked ski area is open from 11 December 2026 to 29 March 2027, and the season ends on 4 April on Hahnenkamm-Fleckalm-Pengelstein.

How much is the lift pass in Kitzbühel?

€83 a day and €423 for 6 days for an adult in high season (20 December to 13 March), €69 and €351 at the start and end of the season. Free for children born in 2021 or later.

Is Kitzbühel good for beginners?

Yes: ten learner drag lifts are free in the valley, three of them in Kitzbühel (Mocking, Rasmusleiten, Ministreif). The Rote Teufel school takes children from age 3.

Can you ski the Streif?

Not all of it: family run 21 follows the race course and passes near the Mausefalle, the Hausbergkante and the Zielschuss. The Starthaus is next to the top station of the Hahnenkammbahn.

Can you get to Kitzbühel without a car?

Yes. Kitzbühel Hahnenkamm station is at the foot of the gondola; from Innsbruck, allow 1h10 by train with one change at Wörgl. With the lift pass, the Streifzug train and the ski buses are free.

Is the Kitzbüheler Horn linked to the Hahnenkamm?

No, you have to go back down to the valley by ski bus. The Hahnenkamm is, however, linked to Jochberg and the Pass Thurn by the 3S-Bahn.
