Split in 5 days
Split grew up inside a palace: the one Diocletian built around 300 AD, where some 3,000 people now live among bars and a cathedral set in the emperor's mausoleum. In front lie the Riva promenade and the Adriatic; behind, the wooded Marjan hill and the ferries to Brač and Hvar.
