Condor check-in: when and how to check in online

The rules below are checked against the official website. Checking in with Condor is always free: nobody needs to pay a service to do it, let alone a subscription.

Opens24 hours before departure, on the website or in the Condor app.
ClosesCondor's pages do not agree: 2 hours before departure according to the Check-in page, 1 hour according to the Online Check-in page (times vary by airport), 60 minutes on long-haul and 45 minutes on short and medium-haul according to the FAQ. Aim for 2 hours, the strictest limit.
At the desk€25 per person to check in at the desk on the Economy Zero fare; free on all other fares.
On mobileYes: the Condor app (App Store, Google Play) lets you check in and keep your boarding pass in the app or your phone's wallet. The mobile boarding pass cannot be issued for departures from Hurghada, Agadir, Cancún, Punta Cana, Santo Domingo, Yerevan, Mombasa, Haikou and Sanya, and is not accepted everywhere, notably in the United States. Groups of 9 or more and passengers with paid special baggage cannot check in online; with an animal or a child travelling alone, online check-in is possible but the boarding pass must be collected at the desk.
⚠️ The Condor trap: On the Economy Zero fare, only online check-in is free: at the desk, Condor charges €25 per person. And since its own pages give different closing times (2 hours, 1 hour, 60 or 45 minutes), don't leave it to the last minute: check in no later than 2 hours before the flight.

Who is Condor?

Condor is Germany's big holiday airline. Born in 1955 as Deutsche Flugdienst and renamed Condor in 1961, it belonged to Lufthansa and then Thomas Cook, survived the latter's bankruptcy in 2019 and has been owned by the Attestor fund since 2021. Around 10 million passengers a year fly with it to more than 70 destinations in Europe, Africa, Asia and North America, on aircraft striped in yellow, red, blue, green or beige since 2022.

Condor flies mainly from Germany: Frankfurt is its hub, supplemented by Düsseldorf, Munich, Hamburg, Berlin, Stuttgart and Zurich. Unless you live near one of them, you first have to get to one of these airports; the Rail&Fly ticket (€34.99 in 2nd class) covers the train from the German border. On long-haul, Economy serves a starter, main course, dessert and drinks, alcohol included. On short and medium-haul, meals are paid for, from €5.49.

Condor is a good choice for sunshine holidays, from Egypt to Morocco, and for long-haul leisure trips from Germany: Cancún, Punta Cana, Mombasa, Windhoek or Zanzibar. It is less so if you refuse to go through Germany, or if you are counting on a Lufthansa connection: since the court ruling of August 2025, these feeder flights are fewer and less advantageous. On the Economy Zero fare, read carefully what is not included before paying.

What Condor does well

  • On long-haul, Economy includes a proper menu (starter, main course, dessert) with water, juice, coffee, tea and alcoholic drinks, plus a hot snack before landing.
  • A renewed long-haul fleet: 18 Airbus A330neos with on-board Wi-Fi, and 25 aircraft planned by 2031.
  • The Rail&Fly ticket at €34.99 in 2nd class takes you by train to your departure airport from any German station (or from the border), valid on the day of the flight and the day before.
  • At many German airports and in Zurich, you can check in and drop off your bags the evening before, free of charge in Premium Economy and Business.

What often catches people out

  • On the Economy Zero fare, checking in at the desk costs €25 per person: only online check-in is free.
  • Hand luggage that is too big or too heavy is charged €75 in Europe and €100 on long-haul, at the desk or at the boarding gate, where Condor warns that higher fees may apply.
  • The mobile boarding pass is not accepted everywhere (United States, flights from the United Kingdom to the United States) and cannot be issued in Hurghada, Agadir, Cancún, Punta Cana and five other airports: plan to print it or go to the desk.
  • Since the ruling of the Düsseldorf Court of Appeal on 20 August 2025, Lufthansa no longer grants Condor special terms on its feeder flights: fewer seats and worse fares for connections.
🎒 Cabin baggageIn Economy, hand luggage measures 55 x 40 x 23 cm since 1 May 2026 (55 x 40 x 20 cm before) for 8 kg, plus a small 40 x 30 x 15 cm bag under the seat. The Economy Zero fare includes only the small bag: the cabin case can be booked from €9.99 on short and medium-haul, €29.99 on long-haul. Trap: a bag that is too big or too heavy costs €75 in Europe and €100 on long-haul, at the desk or at the boarding gate, where higher fees may apply.

🕐 PunctualityAccording to the AirHelp Score 2025, 70% of Condor flights arrived on time between October 2024 and September 2025 (overall score 6.46/10, 61st out of 117 airlines, with 7.9/10 for passenger opinions but 4.5/10 for compensation handling).
